In many cases the IT support, purchase,
installation and strategy falls to the owner of the company to sort
out, and can waste valuable time that could be used more constructively
in generating revenue and running the business.
The same is true
for the employees who rely on the systems working without interruption,
and who do not have the time to research or fix problems when their
real job function is what they should focus on.
In companies
such as these, the planning for the evolution of the IT infrastructure
as the company grows presents problems. There is no single person
with the skill set to design, build or maintain an efficient IT solution.
As a result the IT available to the company will not provide the necessary
level of complexity, flexibility or reliability.
